The company I work for bought two of these a few months ago, both with dual Xeon Gold 5120. They weren't cheap though. Before that we had a pair of RX300 S6. We had no bad experience with Fujitsu in 8 years. But it is a small setup so I can't tell you how the reliabilty scales with more servers.
Nice! I never thought i would see an Fujitsu Server on your Channel but that's how things can change... Here in Germany we have a lot of Fujitsu Server especially in critical areas like banks or something. So nice to see you also take a look on a these.
Thank you Morten. From the box, you can tell the holes in the body for air flow are on the top side, slightly also on the sides, just like Lenovo. However hp is doing a better job in placing the holes to the sides of the server chassis for uninterrupted wide air flow. No VGA front port or display port. To make it optional really makes it frustrating for a storage server. PCIe slots are all except one are low profile and not a lot of them. No USB3 ports. Fujitsu is a well respected brand name, but sadly this model is not well thought of. The only pleasant surprise is the daughter Ethernet card being rj45 and 10gb.
I like your videos! Thanks for making them!
Hi Morten! I worked previously with Fujitsu servers (old and new model, rack and tower). The quality was not so good and the front of the server looked not so good as Dell ones. But the quality of the support (server and computers) was very good and responsive. Even if out of warranty I got two repairs without any difficulties as we were partner and the communication was always good. For one client we deployed server with hyper visor installed on micro internal m2 sata SSD. Very very bad idea! These shitty product died on the main server two weeks after running in production environnement on a Sunday at 4 am. Guess who had to move to the client Office to work on this. And for this Fujitsu retired the product without specific notification and agreed the product was defective and shouldn't be sell any more but we didn't get back any money or something else.
I really like how that is boxed! Would be really easy to pull it from the box right on a cart instead of trying to recruit lazy coworkers to help you muscle a server out the top of a box.
I have never seen anyone unpacking a Fujitsu server like that. Just lay it on the side an pull the green band, its so much easier. ;)
I didn't realize they still made computer items. Looks like a well designed server.
Thanks for the review Morten! Keep up the great work!
A lot of PCI indeed but you need to have the second CPU installed to take advantage of that and that's one of the reasons we are slowly converting to AMD Epyc HP DL385 systems.
I would be glad to review such a server for, say, ... seven years?
The motherboard and riser cards are also made in Germany.
Even without watching all the video, here's my like. I'm reserving this vid as a "dessert" Thanks Morten!
seen a lot of these servers on ebay bu neve knew if they were worth it compared to something like a dell, thanks for the video!
Hi Morten. Maybe Fujitsu forgets about this server, just don't remind them that you got one in the server room :P
As always, great video, thanks!
Hey Morten - just a hint: your thumbnail in YT has a red border around it. This is very similar to the "already watched" videos, and its easy to skip the new ones because of this. Alt det bedste!
You are supposed to Lay the BOX on the Side and slide the Server out. No Lifting needed
love this video Morten. Great video. Love watching your stuff. But then again we norwegian love danish ppl ;D
